Taylor "TJ" Houchin
Owner/Head Performance Coach

Taylor has been training athletes for over 12 years as a Performance Coach and Personal Trainer. He has had experience working with athletes from a wide variety of sports including football, baseball, volleyball, soccer, wrestling, softball, track and more. Clients have ranged from youth beginners to professional athletes in the NFL, MLB, USL, and FIVB. Taylor was a College Football Player and Track athlete at Northern State University in South Dakota while he studied Human Performance and Fitness. During his playing career he interned in the Northern State Strength and Conditioning Program. He was given the opportunity to work with the Football Redshirts and the NSU Baseball Team while obtaining his bachelors degree. After completing his degree he continued his career in strength and conditioning working as a Performance Coach at Benson Sports Training in his hometown of Rapid City, SD. Working under Scott Benson, Taylor worked with hundreds of state champions, individually and in the team setting. Hundreds of athletes moved on to the college and professional level and continued training with Benson Sports Training during Taylor's time with the company. While pursuing professional football, Taylor moved to Arizona to train closer to high level talent and start his own performance training business. After working at a local Chandler gym doing online programs on the side, Taylor decided to start his own business in 2020 called Legacy Performance Training.

Now TJ operates out of Legendary Athletics in Scottsdale, and Elev8 Fitness in Chandler. He currently specializes in performance/speed training as well as personal training transformations. TJ has worked with high level athletes and everyday gym warriors who want to live healthier, stronger, more empowered lives. He personally believes that athletics are an expression of movement and art. Everyone is capable of expressing themself through this artform when guided through a results and process driven program. Specializing in Development from the foundation up, TJ has had great success with his programs. Using analytics and data he provides tangible, measurable metrics to track improvements holding everyone accountable including the training team. With a passion for the science of biomechanics and the application of programming, TJ provides clients with a holistic approach to long term wellness and performance.

Cerrick Skoglund
Personal Trainer/Performance Coach

Cerrick was a track athlete who's journey of perseverance began in high school. Despite competing in multiple track events he consistently finished just short of the podium. This motivated him to work harder and over the next 2 years he dedicated himself to intense training. He gained over 45 pounds of muscle and transformed his body becoming the fastest athlete on his high school team. When he was finally ready to test his progress, he broke his foot derailing his entire season. The setback ultimately shaped Cerricks mindset and approach to training. He built confidence and earned respect from his hard work and training. Now he's inspired to help others reach their goals with the same determination through programming and training. Cerrick specializes in muscle building and fat loss while helping people live healthier, more fulfilling lives.

LEGACY PILLARS OF ATHLETICISM

Speed

The Game changer in all sports influencing everything from acceleration, top speed and agility. We focus on improving acceleration, deceleration, explosive power, and lateral speed to help athletes perform at their peak no matter what they encounter in competition. Through the combination of proper mechanics and multiple training modalities we enhance efficiency while reducing injury risk. Speed isn't just about moving faster, it's about dominating the game with confidence and precision.

Power

Power is the ability to generate force quickly and decisively. We emphasize power development to help athletes excel in rapid directional changes (jumping, sprinting, decelerating) We apply our Power Philosophy by building from the foundation up. Once these movement patterns have been developed, we can add resistance, speed, and ultimately force production to initiate adaptations conducive to being powerful. This also reduces the risk for injuries by preparing athletes for the powerful responses required in athletic competitions.

Strength

Strong athletes are healthy and confident athletes, especially when combining the other 3 pillars. Strength is a key aspect in developing power, speed, and confidence. True strength isn't just the ability to move heavy things (max load) but the ability to move within the prescribed movement pattern and resistance. Through our programming progressions strength is developed strategically with a strong base in science and periodization. We do not develop strength by maxing out everyday or training to failure.

Mobility / Control

Both are essential for efficient movement, injury prevention, and peak athletic performance. We focus on improving/strengthening joint mobility and stability. By focusing on body awareness and precision we are able to help athletes recognize and control movement patterns that connect directly to their sport/competition. People often think of flexibility as mobility. Mobility is focused on the mechanics and adaptations required to be successful in competition. Our goal is to help athletes master their movements while limiting injury risk.
